| Peter and I pass by Chatsworth Lake in the Pine Barrens every weekend on our way to our sailboat at the Jersey Shore. The reflected sunsets are spectacular. Here are two photographs that Peter took during the summer of 1998. |

| "Chatsworth Lake" started as a painting - acrylic on cotton. I stretched the fabric over a pvc quilt frame, sprayed it with water and painted the sky and lake in a watercolor manner. Then I handstitched the shoreline and embroidered the foreground. Next came quilting and trapunto and finally top layer of iridescent acrylics to make the water sparkle. |

The reeds on the left were created with a nylon mesh ribbon. After stitching them, I burned them with the side of my iron to give them a weathered look. The cattails on the right are inch long pieces of velvet ribbon that has been appliqued in place. |
